RUSH CASTING CALL!!! – NON-UNION
PROJECT: THE CHI – SEASON 6
ROLE: AFRICAN AMERICAN MALE TWINS (AGE 1 – 4 YEARS OLD)
RATE: $250/4
COVID & FILMING DATES: TBD BUT ASAP

LOOKING FOR PEOPLE WHO CAN PLAY THE FOLLOWING:
We are looking for real-life African American male twins to play a recurring role of the baby of a series-regular couple.

We also want to make sure that the children have the correct version of the work permit – a sample is pictured in this post. If they do not yet have work permits, please check our minors registration link on our website (link below by “minors register”) for more information. If you need help, please let us know so we can make it happen ASAP, as the role is meant to be cast ASAP.

To be considered, your child must have a POP Profile. To create a profile, click the following link and then follow the instructions on sending the submission e-mail:
If you already have a POP profile, the parent may continue with the submission email. Make sure that your child’s photos and sizes are up-to-date before submitting it.

General Information regarding our Minors Portal for POP:

The process is slightly different – you will need to visit our website @ www.4starcasting.com to upload your child’s information to the minors’ POP portal.
You will need a separate, unique email for your children (if you, the parent, are registered on our Adult POP portal, it must be a different email). Each and every child must have his or her own email address that will link to his or her own profile.
You can find the paperwork required, including the Parent/Legal Guardian Data Collection Parental Verification and Consent affidavit (which is a new legal document, and not the parental form required to obtain the work permit), in the paperwork for minors on our website. The parent affidavit is required for all children 17 and under. 18 and older should use the adult POP portal. The PARENT AFFIDAVIT MUST be uploaded as a pdf. We fixed the problem with downloading the folder.
You must also upload each child’s work permit as jpeg or png – which should be named with your child’s first and last name, name of the employer listed on the work permit, and the date of issue of the work permit (current and valid, it expires one year from issue date).

While we can accept Empire Casting Co Payroll work permits on some projects, we can not on all, so we suggest uploading the 4 Star Casting work permit over others. We also accept talent agency work permits such as Lily’s, Shirley Hamilton, DeStanti, etc.
The work permit MUST be uploaded as jpg or png.

If you do not upload the forms (work permit, proof of age and parent affidavit) in the required format, then your child’s profile will hover in an uncompleted, pending application. If you use a false document to upload and/or an expired work permit, upon our review we will delete the document and/or work permit, and make the account inactive until the proper documents are sent to us and verified.

If you are having issues – send child(ren)’s name and the email you used to create the profile(s) in an email to either the show you are trying to submit your child for and/or to [email protected] with the subject line: MINORS’ PORTAL UPLOAD ISSUES. We can not look up or help without the information requested.

If your child’s information changes, i.e. look, height and weight, measurements, make sure to log on the computer and update the sizes.

[Julián] LEAD

    • Seeking talent of Afro-Caribbean descent.
    • Seeking talent 7-12 (talent to sound 7).
    • Open to male/female/non-binary talent.
    • Knowledge of the Spanish language is a plus, but not a strict requirement. Julián is not himself fluent in Spanish and speaks it deliberately by repeating Abuela’s words.

A creative, instinctive kid of seven years; existing at many an intersection, each one a portal of possibility. In this moment, he’s teetering on the edge, ready to burst it all open.
He is a happy, secure, and confident young boy.
Also, he might just be a mermaid.

[Abuela] LEAD

    • TALENT MUST BE ABLE TO SPEAK SPANISH
    • Abuela is in her 60s – however, we are open with the age as long as the talent have the the voice profile we are seeking.
    • Seeking talent who are of a Hispanophone Caribbean background, ideally specifically from the Dominican Republic.
    • Abuela is Afro-Caribbean, born and raised in the Dominican Republic.
    • She speaks Spanish frequently and confidently. English is her second language, which she learned in Brooklyn as a young adult. A Brooklyn accent in English is less important, as Abuela learned English in a cultural melting pot that includes many other non-native English speakers.

She is stoic, firm, but with a natural tenderness in her voice. Her voice should have a gravitas that comes with age and experience but there should be no frailty that suggests an elderly woman.

The grandmother of Julián. She is the best kind of elder, wise and caring, but still messy and complicated in her own right. Brilliant, but bound by the mistakes of the past, she has closed herself to further pain, hardening her heart. Unbeknownst to her, Julián will be the key to cracking it open.
– TALENT MUST BE ABLE TO SPEAK SPANISH

Synopsis: The wide-eyed JULIÁN spends a summer of discovery in NYC with his ABUELA. Nearly strangers, they brace themselves for tense conversations and new adventures. The colourful chaos of Abuela’s world, and the stories she tells him, awakens something within Julián… questions about who he is and who he could be. Julián’s curiosity is piqued when he discovers magic that seems to flow from his very fingertips! He knows it must be connected to something deeper… and the Brooklyn block outside Abuela’s door may just provide a clue. A trio of girls, Julián’s new best friends, dazzle him with talk of a beautiful mermaid goddess, one with the power of transformation – The wondrous YEMAYÁ! Her magic bears a striking resemblance to Julián’s recent discovery… The girls plan to meet her at the spectacular Mermaid Parade and Julián is eager to join them, he wants nothing more than to be a mermaid! However, Abuela sees things a little differently. She knows all too well the dangers of the ocean, of Yemayá, and the power she wields. She is keen to make up for lost time with Julián, but she’s desperate to protect him too. Abuela isn’t ready to let him go, so instead she offers Julian a choice: She will bring him to the parade – only if he gives up on Yemayá… Julián agrees, delighted to have Abuela on his side. They become close, spending time together making a costume and enjoying each other’s company. But still, Julián finds himself drawn to the sea, to Yemayá and the freedom they promise. Julián, believing he can change Abuela’s mind, reveals his true intentions, magic and all. But Abuela’s pain runs deeper than Julián could possibly know. She won’t let him go. Despite her betrayal, Julián refuses to give up. Driven by fierce emotion and magical power, he summons a huge storm that carries him off to the ocean. Once there, Julián’s dream can finally come true, but only if he is willing to leave everything behind. It’s now or never for Abuela. If she doesn’t want to lose him, she must prove that she is ready to accept all those parts of Julián, and herself, that she has closed off for so long. Julián feels himself being torn in two – bound to Abuela and Yemayá equally. However, his summer of discovery has shown him that the answer lies somewhere between the two. Julián is of land and sea, a child of Abuela and Yemayá, a boy and mermaid. Julián is magic! The storm clouds disappear and Julián and Abuela fully embrace. By the time they return to their block they are forever changed but forever connected. They have both been truly transformed!

What are Casting Calls?

Casting calls are auditions organized by casting directors to find suitable actors for various roles in film, television, theater, and commercials. These are your gateway to the screen and stage, providing a platform to showcase your acting skills to key decision-makers in the industry.

Popular Filming Locations and Their Impact

Several cities around the world are renowned for being film-making hubs, each offering unique opportunities for actors:

1. Hollywood, Los Angeles: The heart of the film industry, Hollywood is synonymous with cinema and television. Here, casting calls are plentiful, ranging from blockbuster movies to independent films and everything in between.

2. New York City: Known for both its theater scene and film productions, NYC is a vibrant hub for casting calls, especially for Broadway shows and live performances.

3. Atlanta, Georgia: With its favorable tax incentives, Atlanta has become a hotspot for film and TV productions, resulting in a surge of casting calls for actors in recent years.

4. Vancouver, Canada: Often referred to as “Hollywood North,” Vancouver is a top destination for filming due to its diverse landscapes and favorable filming conditions, leading to many opportunities for actors.

5. London, UK: A significant center for film and theatre, London offers numerous casting calls for everything from feature films to West End productions.

Tips for Navigating Casting Calls

  • Stay Informed: Regularly check specialized websites like Project Casting, where you can find daily updates on casting calls in various cities. Utilizing these platforms can help you stay ahead of the competition by applying early to newly posted opportunities.
  • Prepare Thoroughly: Always arrive at auditions prepared. This means having your lines memorized, understanding the character you are auditioning for, and being ready to take direction or feedback on the spot.
  • Network: The film industry is as much about talent as it is about connections. Attend industry events, workshops, and festivals in these popular locations to connect with casting directors, filmmakers, and other actors.
  • Professional Portfolio: Maintain an updated portfolio with your headshots, resume, and reel. An impressive portfolio can make a significant difference in how casting directors view your professionalism and suitability for a role.
  • Persistence and Patience: The entertainment industry is known for its competitiveness. Persistence in attending auditions and patience in handling rejections are key to eventually succeeding.

Conclusion

Whether you’re near the bustling streets of New York, the scenic views of Vancouver, or the historic sites of London, understanding the landscape of casting calls is crucial. By staying informed, prepared, and connected, you can navigate this dynamic field and potentially turn your acting aspirations into a successful career. How do I find a legit casting call?

To find legitimate casting calls, start by using reputable platforms like Project Casting, which vets postings to ensure authenticity. Always research the casting company or director associated with the call. Legitimate opportunities typically don’t require payment to audition, and any contact should come from professional email addresses rather than personal accounts.

Can you audition without an agent?

Yes, you can audition without an agent. Many open casting calls and online platforms allow individual actors to submit directly for roles. While having an agent can provide access to more exclusive opportunities and handle negotiations, many new actors start their careers by attending open calls or self-submitting for roles online.

What is the difference between a casting call and an audition?

A casting call is a notice put out by producers or casting directors seeking potential actors for roles, inviting them to apply or present themselves. An audition is the process where actors perform a specific piece, like a monologue or a script, in front of the casting team after responding to a casting call. Essentially, the casting call is the request, and the audition is the response.

What is the best free casting call website?

Generally, you should not pay to attend casting calls. Legitimate casting calls and auditions do not require payment from actors. If a casting call asks for money to audition or to secure a role, it is likely a scam. The standard practice is that any fees associated with the casting process are covered by the production.
