We’re seeking Muslims, 18+, in the Greater Toronto Area who are proud of their faith and culture and are excited to tell Canadians about what it means to be Muslim in this country!

Do you have a profound and emotional story about being Muslim in Canada, or a light-hearted and funny one? We’re open to all kinds of stories, big and small, but what we want most is to know what you want the rest of Canada to know about you, your faith and your heritage!

We encourage you to help friends and family members who may not be tech savvy but have something important to say to apply. We understand English may not be the first language for everyone. We welcome all degrees of English proficiency and accents.

 

PLEASE NOTE:

– This is a non-union project. No acting experience is required, however, you should be outgoing and comfortable being filmed and interviewed.

– If shortlisted, you MUST be available for a brief online interview with the director on February 25th.

– If selected, you MUST be available to attend a brief COVID test in Toronto on March 21st.

– If selected, you MUST be available for filming on March 23rd and 24th. You may be needed for one or both of those dates.

– If booked, you will each receive $75 for a covid test appointment and $750 for one day of filming. If your footage is in the final commercial, you will receive an additional $750+ depending on its use. If you are required for a second day of filming, you will receive an additional $500. If filming takes place in your home, you will receive an additional $500 “location fee.”

DUE TO THIS BEING A UNION PROJECT, THEY ARE ASKING FOR THIS STAND IN/BODY DOUBLE TO BE A SAG MEMBER.

On set, this person will have to be good at taking notes and acting out scenes just like our CAST does in case they have to stand in for them.

Also, this is for specific cast members who are not able to do certain scenes at the time of filming on the show and we have to get certain shots.

About The Show

Breaking News is an episodic miniseries about a news show that launches in the midst of the global pandemic of 2020-2021 in the United States by a new cable news network YNTV by the family-owned corporation Thompson Family Ventures.  

 

This show will follow the show’s launch and evolution, both as a brand and news provider, as well as the personal lives of the main characters as they navigate what it is like providing news coverage for a new network in the midst of  the global pandemic and the societal changes that impacted the news cycle and work culture during the period and beyond.

Genre: Comedy (Satire)

The series is a mix of episodic storytelling, bottled topics / seasonal / series extending storylines. Important: the show is meant to make people who initially see it actually think they are watching a real pandemic-inspired environment cable newscast- do not want it to come across as a scripted episodic series in presentation.
